Need To Board Your Cat? 3 Tips For Success

Pets & Animals Blog

If you need to go on an extended business trip or have a family vacation coming up, you need to think about the family cat. You don't want to leave the feline t home all alone for this long period of time, but you don't have anyone that he can stay with either. Luckily, you do have another option available: cat boarding. It is a safe and secure option for pet care when you are unable to provide it. Here are a few tips to ensure that your (and your cat's) cat boarding experience is a successful one:

Tip #1: Visit the Cat Boarding Facility.

You don't want to leave your cat just anywhere, so it is important that you visit a few different cat boarding facilities so that you can see first-hand where you cat will be staying. There are a couple of different types of cat boarding facilities: 1) the kind that is built-in with veterinarian offices, and 2) the more modern "hotel" facility. The former facility is a closer-knit operation, while the latter may offer more frills and thrills for your cat. Some facilities will offer playrooms, condos, and other comforts for cats that will help your cat stay comfortable, which is why it is helpful if you visit the facility to see what is offered and where your cat stays. To really see how the facility operates, simply drop by unannounced.

Tip #2: Check Out Online Reviews.

As with anything, you will want to be a private investigator and scour the internet for anything positive and negative said about the cat boarding facilities that you visited. Look for online reviews from previous clients, check to see if any complaints have been filed with the Better Business Bureau, etc. You will even want to check in with your family, friends, and co-workers to see if they have ever boarded their cats in these facilities. You can then use this information with the information you gathered from your visits to determine the facility you will use to board your feline.

Tip #3: Make Your Cat's Reservation Early.

If you are traveling during the holidays, summer, or any other peak travel time, it is crucial that you make your reservation early because boarding facilities will book up fast – possibly even weeks/months in advance. Therefore, as soon as you are aware that you are going on a trip and need to secure a space for your kitty, you need to call the boarding facility and inform them of the dates of your travel and see if they have space available. While you are speaking to them, it is a good idea to go ahead and find out any requirements for your cat to board with them, such as vaccinations and health examinations requirements.

Adding Pets To Your Family

When I was growing up, I had a dog that I absolutely adored. We did everything together. From running and playing outside to spending time together in the house, she really felt like a friend who loved and cared about me. Unfortunately, she passed on when she was about ten years old, and it was really difficult for me. I realized that I wanted to get a new dog after that, so I started looking for a business that could help. I started going from pet store to vet clinic to see if anyone had an animal that needed a home, and I found an animal that I really loved. Check out this blog for great information on pet ownership.
